What We Are
Black beauty is a multi-billion dollar industry built by Black founders, sustained by Black consumers, and historically documented by almost no one. The brands existed. The founders existed. The stores existed. The record did not.
Beauty Mkt is the directory, the archive, and the resource that should have existed a long time ago. Every Black-owned brand we can find. Every founder worth knowing. Every store. The full business history of an industry that earned its place and rarely got credit for it.
Why It Exists
Beauty Mkt was founded by Sencera Yvonne. Black-owned, independently built, no outside investment. The platform exists because the information was scattered, the history was underwritten, and the brands deserved a home that treated them as seriously as they treat their work.
We are not covering Black beauty from a distance. We are building the infrastructure it should have had. The directory grows. The archive deepens. The community builds around both.
